Passed away suddenly, on February 6, 2015, at the age of 62. Melvin will be missed by his loved ones, a brother-in-law (Derek North), nieces (Natasha Batt), nephews (Dane and Desmond Atkinson), great-niece MaryAnna, great-nephew Tawodi, many cousins and friends. Melvin joins his loved ones who left
before him: father John Daniels, mother Mary Daniels (Comegan), siblings: Shirley, Anna, Paddy and Joann. Melvin was born and raised in Lake of the Woods, Ontario and a member of the Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing. Melvin was known for his guitar “picking” playing, his love for his family and friends, his laughter, and his enjoyment of singing. Melvin was a resident of Ottawa for over 40 years. Family and friends are invited at Racine, Robert & Gauthier 180 Montreal Rd., Ottawa on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. An Objiway Traditional Service will be held on February 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Feast will follow after service at the Wabano Centre.
