It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael David Thomas, who died peacefully on May 2nd at the age of 81 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Mike was born and raised in Wales but has made Canada his home for over 50 years. He was a dedicated Geophysicist, and only just retired a few months ago from Natural Resources Canada (Energy Mines and Resources). For many years he was breaking bones on the Twin Elms rugby field with the Ottawa Indians but softened up in his later years for the more refined pastimes of pottery and antique collecting. He is survived by his sons David & Dylan (Monique), sister Susan in the UK, former wife Susan and partner Pauline. He was also the proud Grandfather to Ava, Borys, and Izabella and Uncle and Great-Uncle to many nieces and nephews in the UK.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming months.
Donations can be made in memory of Mike to the Canadian Cancer Society. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcevoy-shields.com
