Called to her Heavenly home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in her 94th year. She was predeceased by her loving husband Gerald Smith, her step-son Peter Smith, and her sister, Dr. Ivy Michel. She is survived by her loving sister, Marion Michel; step-children Meredith Bittle (Neil), Lyell Smith (Leanne), Paul Smith (Sharon), Carol Wengrowich (Walter); step daughter-in-law Janet Faszer; and their many children and grandchildren.
Norma grew up in a loving Christian home in Ottawa. She excelled in school obtaining her MSc from Colombia University. She worked as a teacher, librarian and special education advisor in Ottawa. Norma married the love of her life, Gerald Smith, in her mid sixties and lived with him in Calgary until his passing ten years later.
Norma was a faithful member and supporter of the Metropolitan Bible Church where she was baptized as a young woman. She was known for her intelligence, her entrepreneurship, her love of travel, and generosity towards others. A private graveside service will be held at a later time.
