So sad to hear that Gix passed away. His videos were such a soothing thing to watch, I remember we exchanged comments about visual design in games and computer art in general. Such a bright and creative guy.... Rest in peace, you will be missed.

Two years, Gix. Thinking about you, brother. Your videos got me through tough times and that will stick with me forever.

Some of my fondest memories are from summer break in 2011, my 15-16 year old self getting into the magical world of role-playing games and binging his Morrowind Let's Play. In the years following, Gix's famously occasional uploads would feel like a visit from an old friend. Something about his mild-mannered demeanor made his videos a total joy.

Wow. I'm terribly late to only be finding this out now, but that's incredibly sad news. One of the first let's players I found back when there were very few people making that kind of content in video form.

Of course I didn't know his personal life, but in his videos he was always incredibly patient and thoughtful and it's no surprise that he remains in people's minds, even years between seeing his content I'd check in curious about where he was now. Despite being strangers he was a long time companion of mine for almost a decade and a half - a constant that was always there to entertain and remember.

Rest in peace.

Just now learned that Gix is no longer with us. I'm in utter disbelief right now. 

His YouTube has been such a huge part of my life for so very very long (to this day i keep rewatching his Lets plays more often than I'd even like to admit) and his person is someone I've identified with heavily. 

Truly cannot believe he is gone. Thank You Gix! Gix/Olivier will probably be the RPG name of choice for me in every character creator ever for as long as I live.

GixG17 is the oldest remaining search term on my YouTube account. He's the guy I would check up on every few months to see if he uploaded. I'll never forget you, man!

I've been playing The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remaster and I kept thinking about Olivier, or as I know him: Gix. I've been re-watching a lot of his videos. Gix really was one-of-a-kind. I have not seen Let's Plays like his before or since. Watching Gix always put me at ease with his endearing personality and his approach to games where he slows down and really appreciates the little things. It's a reminder to not rush through things and enjoy the moment.

The first time I watched him was way back when I was twelve-years-old and excited to get Morrowind for Christmas. I came across his videos of it and he was the only person I found who gave a real, raw look at the game and combined with his warm and friendly personality, I've watched him ever since.

Rest in peace. I never thought I would shed tears over someone I've never met and who has never met me, but Gix has made a big impression on me and I'll never forget it.  Thank you for everything, Olivier.

I started watching his videos on YouTube about the Elder Scrolls series, and always enjoyed his take on things as GixG17. His continuances of the series that he started will be missed. I only learned of his passing recently, as I was hoping for Oblivion Remastered content on his YouTube channel and thought about how I’d like to see Gix’s reaction to it.

Olivier had a YouTube channel, the first YouTube video I ever watched was his first “Let’s Play: Morrowind” video. I was 13 at the time and 26 now. Your family member was a passionate and inspiring man. His memory will be passed on like an old legend and his energy will be with us forever.

I remember playing Gix (Olivier)'s video in the background as I studied for exams in college. His soothing voice always calmed me down during those stressful times. I was randomly browsing through old saved videos on YouTube and wondering what he was up to, and I'm devastated to find out that he is no longer with us. Rest in peace, brother. I'm starting a new Morrowind playthrough in your honor.

I sadly learned of Olivier's passing today when I thought to look up his Youtube channel, and was shocked to see the news. Olivier, or Gix, as his fans knew him, was a favorite among me and a couple of my friends back in the day, particularly his Morrowind videos. To this day his signature pronunciation "Hello eenternet" is something of a running gag with me and a couple friends. He went far too young, may he rest in peace.

I am finding this out far too late, this man was my first and most favorite youtube "Let's Player" since I was in middle school fourteen years ago. I am very sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Gix,

I have had Gix playing on my phone lately, not knowing what happened. I just found out now that he passed, and I'm absolutely devastated. I'm legit sobbing while I write this, but I had to put something here to honor Gix's memory and share the impact Gix had on me, on all of us. I watched his videos for a really long time. He was so entertaining with all his playthroughs. Such a wonderful, funny, and chill human being. He's one of my favorite content creators. Everyone will miss you so much, Gix. When the Elder Scrolls 6 comes out, I will think of you...we will all think of you. Rest in peace. <3

I want to express my heartfelt condolences to Olivier's family and loved ones. Though I never had the privilege of meeting him in person, his presence through his videos was truly impactful. My heart sank when i discovered the news of Olivier's passing. I watched his Youtube videos for over 15 years and have always gone back for a bit of nostalgia and relaxation. It's great loss for the community, his fans and his loved ones.

Olivier...Gix...i can't tell you how much your videos have meant to me over the years. though you never knew me, i have been watching you since the beginning and felt like i got to know you personally and deeply.

you have been such an inspiration to me and so many others; your personality and the goodness of your spirit really came through in your videos. we are very grateful that you left behind such an impactful legacy of videos, and i hope they remain online forever, and that many more continue to discover the joy of Gix.

in a world where so many gamers were loud, in your face, and obnoxious, you were a breath of fresh air. you were always relaxing, introspective and thoughtful, and the way you played games reflected that. it was evident that you were highly intelligent as well as patient, and willing to take the time to really appreciate the finer things. these are only some of the traits i respected about you.

Having talked to you a year ago on Twitch only to find out now that you passed away greatly upset me and I won't lie even shed some tears.  Despite never having met each other or even known each other outside of a few small talks we had on your videos or streams you still were someone I looked up to and still do. It feels strange sharing my condolences for a person that I've never met and that never knew of my existence, but that's how much of an impact Gix made on my childhood. I found his Youtube channel while I was in high school around the year 2011. The first video of his that I came across was a commentary on an upcoming blockbuster game called Skyrim. I instantly got addicted to his content. Gix had a one-of-a-kind personality that made him so interesting to watch. 

While most people brainlessly played video games just for the sake of completing them, Gix had a totally different approach. Gix would fully immerse himself into his character, slow down to smell the roses, enjoy the scenery, and fully take in everything the game had to offer. He completely revolutionized the way I approached video games, and I am still molded by his playstyle to this day. 

I know this is just nostalgia and remembering the good ole days, but this news really hurt me. Sorry to the close friends and family who knew him personally. You guys know better than I do of how special a person Olivier was. I have watched hundreds of hours of his content over the last 15 years, and I really do feel like I got to know him personally.

It's just a reminder to all of us all how short life truly is. One day we're all kids/young adults without a worry in the world, and in the blink of an eye people you love are gone. The fact that you passed away before finishing your Skyrim let's play 13 years after the games release is the most Gix thing of all time haha. RIP buddy, I will always remember the impact you had on my younger years and won't ever forget you. <3

I am really sorry for the loss of one of the kindest people I’ve had years of enjoyment watching.

I never knew him personally, as I only knew him from his Youtube videos, but he was my longest Subbed channel I watched.

I still felt a connection to watching him and experiencing games like Morrowind or Skyrim.

I will really miss him, he actually did inspire me to make videos of my own.

Olivier ran a YouTube channel under the username "gixG17", for more than 15 years he posted various videos of him playing through his favourite games or sharing and expressing his thoughts with his audience. Over those 15 years he built a dedicated following of fans who loved him for his kind spirit and smart, witty, humorous personality. He will be remembered by many as one of the first to pioneer "Let's play" type videos on YouTube, and he will forever be a legend in that space. I'm so sorry to his family and friends for such a loss, he was truly one of a kind and is gone far too soon. Rest in Peace Olivier, you will never be forgotten by the many lives you impacted over the years. ❤️

To a good guy through and through and a friend that will never lose his place amongst my memories.  True to himself and his values and who always managed to see things in a positive way.   He will forever strike me as a good buddy that will be dearly missed.  I still remember all our times together with friends, just simply "being".   He could always bring out ones true self when you were around him.  Thanks for bringing genuine kindness and happiness to our world.

Olivier was someone whose opinion I always valued. Some of my fondest memories are when we got to hang out and talk about video game mechanics, swapping stories about our favorite games. He always had something interesting to say. He inspired me to look at things in a different way, and that's something I will always treasure.
