It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Patrick Finnamore on Thursday, October 21st, 2021, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 65 and now goes to join his parents and older sister, Maureen, in heaven. Growing up, he was the son of Joseph William Finnamore from Tralee, Ireland, and Marjorie Mack of MacNutt, Saskatchewan. He was an intelligent, fun-loving boy and excelled in sports such as biking, swimming, basketball, and especially tennis. His early career saw him in the Public Service (DND), but he soon found greater fulfilment working with disabled people as a personal support worker. He admired them and often would do extra duties, like visiting on his days off to cheer them up. Unfortunately, Parkinson’s disease caused him to have to give up his work and resign, but he did still keep in touch with his former clients. For most of his life, he still retained his sense of humour, and was an inspiration to all. He leaves behind to grieve his sister, Mavis (Peter Ogibowski), his brother-in-law Ray Addison (Karen), his niece & nephews Charlene (Brent Dixon) Gerry, David (Susanna), Kevin and Chris, and his great nieces and nephew Talia, Chloe and Ian. He also leaves behind his great friend, Francois and his family, who kept in touch until the very end. Being a simple man, a small family-led grave-side service will take place on Friday, October 29th, 2021 at 1:00pm at Notre Dame Cemetery, at gravesite 64-C-485 (Marjorie Finnamore). Donations to the Parkinson’s Canada organization in Pat’s name would also be greatly appreciated.
