Died peacefully at home in Ottawa surrounded by his loving family at the age of 68 years after an evening filled with music, wine and final goodbyes. Rick was the beloved husband of Frances, cherished father of the late Andrea (Jeff Mendelsohn), Vanessa & Maria (Eric Saulis), beloved brother of Bogdan (Françoise Bonin). Much loved and devoted “Little Boppa” to Evan, Dylan & Braylan. Also loved by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Rick was pre-deceased by his parents Josef & Maria Papiernik. His 11 year battle with Multiple Myeloma followed by plasma cell leukemia, was commendable. Always the life of the party, a talented musician, often found in the center of the action with a wine glass in one hand and a guitar in the other. He had such a good presence and it will be missed. We take comfort in knowing that Andrea was right there ready and waiting to give him the biggest, warmest, heavenly welcome. Visitation will take place for family and friends at McEvoy Shields Funeral Home & Chapel at 1141 Hunt Club Road in Ottawa from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, September 9th.
