I was a boyhood friend of Rick’s in Arnprior and last saw him at the family cottage on the Ottawa River. Often wondered what happened to him and often researched but never found anything. Today happened to find this . Realize it is 6 years old however it is hoped it is forwarded to his wife. Always remembered him on his birthday May 11. Email at cronmill@telus.net

Diane. We are in complete shock at the passing of Rick! How much we enjoyed our talks on the back deck on Gladeview. He always had a smile and a kind word. Please accept our condolensces and prayers for you and your family. We will always remember him. Darrell, Sheila and Jamie Oakley.

I had the pleasure of working with Rick at STC. I have many memories of those days. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed a good time. My condolences to the family.

Rick spoke so often of his family....my thoughts and prayers are with you all.  He was a such a caring man. He was respected by all of us and his commitment to keeping our little group of the "original team"(INAC) together was clear each year when we would get together for lunch or after work drinks, he would always make an effort to come!  He really was the BEST boss anyone could ask for.  I am so very sorry for your loss.

I was both shocked and saddened to hear of Rick's passing.  I worked with Rick for many years at Statistics Canada.  He always had a smile on his face, had a wonderful sense of humour and was a breath of fresh air when you needed it most. We also shared a love for our beloved Sens. Rick was my very first director. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met and by far my favorite boss. He was always so helpful and fair. My heart goes out to his family, rest in peac Richard.

I remember working with Rick at Statistics Canada and he was always friendly and helpful.  I am so very sorry for your loss.  I hope knowing that he made a difference will bring a bit of comfort at this time.

My sincere sympathy to you and the family on the sudden passing of a very dear friend and curling buddy. We just had breakfast with him on January 18th. just a few days before his heart attack. We brought pictures and talked about our memories of our past curling triumphs. I knew Rick since the early 1970's when we curled together. He was very proud when we returned to his hometown Arnprior and won the B curling event back in the mid 1970's. We had our names and picture in the local paper. I only have fond memories of Rick and I will miss him very much especially at our breakfasts we have every few months.
Again to you and the children my sincere and deepest sympathy and I am very proud to have called him a very dear friend.
