I knew Ron back when he was in graduate school at the University of Waterloo.  An incredibly bright and funny guy, always helpful and positive.  We became a bit of the three musketeers Ron, Clayton and I  - playing tennis (badly) and hanging out to relieve some of the tedium of graduate school.  It is a huge loss and Ron was taken away far to early.

My thoughts and prayers are with his children and family.

I'm completely shocked today.  All I can think of this morning is the great memories. All the times he used to call me, and how much he loved long phone conversations.

I remember after we completed undergrad at the University of Ottawa in 1985, Ron moved to Waterloo. I was out with my sister Maureen and some of her friends. One of them suddenly got quite emotional and said she really
missed Ron, and all the long calls they used to have. Everyone in the
group resoundingly agreed - and I was startled to realize that Ron kept in
touch with EVERYONE, not just me and a few others.

Ron had a really unique gift. He genuinely made an effort to reach out to
everyone around him. It's been decades since we used to talk on the phone
every day, but I still remember those days. I hope he's at peace.

Ronald dedicated himself to providing the best for his children

Ronald inspired friends and co-workers
Ronald laughed often
Ronald loved his children deeply
Ronald mentored many colleagues
Ronald opened the doors of opportunity for friends
Ronald protected even those who hurt him
Ronald rarely thought the "cup was half empty"
Ronald shared his gains with others
Ronald smiled from sunrise to sunset
Ronald tried to hide his pain from others
Ronald valued both hard work and play
Ronald zoomed out of this life far too quickly and far too soon...

So very sad that we will no longer discuss our plans for the future, see you happy and hopeful in a new and truly loving relationship and the long and sad list goes on....

We are shocked and saddened to read about Ronald's passing. My mother and I are remembering all the times that the Taticet-Hrebacka children got together to play. So many wonderful memories. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Vera Jones (nee Hrebacka) & Vera Pastyrik

Ron was a friend at the University of Waterloo where he was positive and friendly even as he worked long hours in the lab. This is such sad news. My condolences to the Taticek family.

I have known Ron since Grade 9 at SWL.  He was one of the best and brightest.  He was always at the top of his class in everything he does, winning all the awards and accolades.  His accomplishments were due to his natural intelligence and his amazing work ethics.  I always remember that through out high school and university, if any teachers have any questions, they will always ask Ron for his notes!  In addition to his academic achievements, Ron was an extremely social person.  He always has time to talk and help his friends and acquaintances. Ron was a devoted father and a caring friend.  I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends.  His presences will be missed by everyone.

It is with great sadness that I am writing this ..... I'm devastated and am still processing.  I keep expecting him to call or text me.... looking forward to our next get together.

It's been so many years and so many experiences I've shared with him.  I've heard from others time and time again, "He's so nice!"  He really was a kind, thoughtful, gentle and fun loving person.  

I met him in my first year at University of Ottawa.  We fast became friends and I was welcomed into the crowd from high school.  Being one of my most intelligent classmates, he could have laughed at my wrong answers in exams and my attempts at making sense of the outliers in numerous projects and labs.  Instead, he was always very supportive and helpful.  He would take notes for us if we missed a class and would be willing to take the time to explain concepts that went over our heads.  He made things look easy, but I knew he worked very hard at "perfection".  I remember the beautiful, multicolor 3D molecules in organic chemistry that he would draw in his notes .  He was my inspiration to work hard....

I remember his thoughtfulness when he would bring in fresh corn straight from the farm.  Or when he baked pound cake and explained that it contained a "pound of butter".  He always had a handle on the situation and tell interesting stories.

I also worked with him at NRC.  He introduced me to all his friends and colleagues there during my first co-op work term.  He made sure I was welcomed and felt comfortable.  He was friends to all.

We renewed our friendship 15 years ago when I moved to San Francisco.  I was not so sure that I would like it at that time but I've now lived here for longer than anywhere else in my life.  He gave me the support and comfort to "give it a try".  He became a good friend to my husband, Mike  and Uncle Ron to my children.  His hospitality was top notch as he went the extra mile, we've been breaking bread together for what seems to be an eternity.  My children especially know that he's a softie ....good for soft drinks, appetizers, crackers & cheese and chips, swiss chocolate, juicy fruit drops and yummy desserts!  For the adults, good wine and beers....good food ....home made apple pie at Thanksgiving.... decorating the house at Christmas.

We were able to celebrate his birthday with him just a few weeks ago.  I wished him a "Happy Birthday...and many, many more".

Although extremely dedicated, I've seen him struggle in the last several years with family and health issues.  He worked so hard!  He moved mountains!  I really thought that he had overcome all his issues but alas, something took him away.

I will miss him....  and always will.
