Died peacefully November 7, 2010 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Cherished Mama of Suzanna (Toronto) and Chrystia and husband, Michael Matthews (Ottawa).

Adored Babusia of Ruslan, Lukash, Zakhar and Daryan (Ottawa).

Predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Ivan (Sudbury), on April 11, 2003.

Born January 3, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec to Anne (Soroka) and John Konichkowsky.

Rozalia was a smart, beautiful and vibrant person whose fighting spirit touched many. Active in the Ukrainian community, she sang with the Dnipro Choir and volunteered at Sudbury’s St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Rozalia was the City of Sudbury’s first employee of Ukrainian Canadian descent. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Panakyhda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home Chapel, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, Ontario. Family will receive guests at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at the Civic Memorial Cemetery, 265 Second Avenue, Sudbury, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Icon Fund, c/o the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Byron Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K2A 0J3.
