Rest in Peace Steve, Sincere Condolences to your family. You will be missed at Metcalfe and my fondest memory is the first time we played together I chipped in for birdie out of the sand on #17. The best I ever played that hole. I will never forget your passion for the game and how great it was playing with you.

My condolences to Darlene and family. Whenever I would see Steve at the golf course, he always had a smile and when asked about his game that day, he always responded positively. I will miss our banter, me telling him to trim his moustache and him telling me to get a haircut. Rest in peace, Steve.

My heartfelt condolences to you and your family Darlene. I was deeply saddened when I heard Steve had passed. Through out it all he remained so positive I was sure he was going to win this battle and I was praying he would. He loved giving me a hard time as I did him so I will miss that more then anything else plus not seeing him at the course almost everyday will be very hard. I’m sure there’s a golf course in heaven just waiting for him. RIP Steve. Carol

Dear Darlene and family,
Margot & I were so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I remember playing golf with you both on several occasions at Grandview. He always had fun and he always seemed to be calm, collected and cool. Just a down to earth guy. He was also pretty good at helping me find my tee-shots after they went into the woods (on most holes). We know that you will have many great memories of Steve to carry you forward. Take care. You are in our thoughts... Gary & Margot Keough

Shutdowns will never be the same my friend. No more pawning off all my baked goods and watching you giggle over who liked what. No more hints for your cigars or bringing you a new bottle of wine cause you didn’t like the winery. The double olive, Friday the 13th. Watching lightening from the fccu dance floor or later the Smoke pit. Shaking my head over you washing your sandwich bags. Listening to talk about your family and your very loud pants that you wore to with the boys on your trip. Absolutely knowing that if hockey was on when I showed up you’d be hollering at the tv.
Goodbye Steve, You are missed Sir. I wish you safe travels, the sun at your back and a brand new rental SUV to get you there. I still thinking flying would be quicker, but you always said you liked the drive.

I first met Steve about 10 years ago at the Spring TA at the Nanticoke Refinery, he immediately took me under his wing and showed me around the Refinery.
Steve was a gentleman, a great coach and mentor who helped so many people.
Later that Fall I ended up at a TA at a pulp mill when I received a call from Steve, he asked me if I was interested in working for Imperial at Kearl, I accepted and started just before Christmas.
When I first arrived in Steve’s office he told me you are here to replace me, I don’t want to work full time, he said he had way to much golf to play.
He told me you will probably be here for 3 years, well I have been working there with a few short breaks for the last 9 years.
Thank You Steve you will be missed my friend.
He inspired so many people and started many into a full time career in Health and Safety.
Thank You, You cared and made a big difference.
My condolences to Darlene and the Family, we never met, but you were always in every conversation we had. John and Kathy Douma

Darlene and girls, many places and jobs have Steve and I co- worked and shared, the memories and laughs endless. I cant imagine my next shift without him. It will always come as a challenge to think he wont be there to fill the backshift and have a sarcastic comment in the morning, I will miss that. I wish the best for all of you in these times of loss. if I could say anything to you at this moment is that Steve endlessly spoke of how much he loved his family.
Regards,
Randy

Steve and I shared an office on a couple shutdowns and I'll always remember our night shift chats typically revolving around golf and the Leafs. He taught me alot about health and safety. A fond memory was meeting up with Steve Rick and Malcolm for a pre-game drink at a Jays game in Toronto and he was decked out in a superhero cape and tights. My condolences he will be missed.

Darlene and family -- our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with you as we were saddened by the news of Steve's passing. Steve and I spent many hours together at work in Nanticoke, as well as on the golf course, where we enjoyed great conversations. These talks included the love for his family and he enjoyed sharing the girls' achievements and hobbies where he talked about everything from paramedics to horse back riding. He will be greatly missed and I considered him a friend. Gerry
