I was very sad to learn of Madame Hotte's passing. I have wonderful memories from a very early age of how much fun she was. I would sit on my uncle's dock and listen for the singing to start. Invariably that meant it was time for a party. It seems very appropriate that she was born on Valentine's Day. She was filled with love.

My sincere sympathies go to your family.

As a hairstylist for 35 years I never felt so fulfilled in my work, as I do with working at a long term care, caring for people like Therese.

My work never stops at doing hair, often residents, Therese would come to me asking to help put her socks and shoes on, please help me with my bags, please stay with me when I go to my room, so I’m not alone.....
To me it was never a question to help wherever I could. To comfort even just for a few minutes, was never out of my way.

It was always my pleasure to serve your mother/mamma, grandmother/grandmama.

Almost 3 years of getting to know Therese, she was an amazing women. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even her grand 4 legged fur baby!
She was loving, kind, though, and demanding.... but who wouldn’t be at that age, with this many kids and grand kids! ;)

She was Fire that always burned bright, you always knew if someone wasn’t doing what they should, man she would get mad... and you better look out!
Then when she was happy, everyone knew the excitement in her heart and the smile on her face.
I love her spirit, a no messing around with her attitude. You always knew where you stood with her.

The stories I heard about her cottage and how she loved it so. “You should go Therese and stays for a weekend, I said, enjoy and never be afraid of staying the night.. Your sons and daughter will take good care of you.” Then finally she did, one more time.
Her smile could light up a room that day I saw after that weekend! She couldn’t wait to tell me she stayed the weekend. She was so happy she beat fear, face on, even at her age.
What a strong women!

Linda and I and our sons, Matthew, Andrew and Patrick were very sorry to hear about Mme. Hotte’s passing.
We have fond memories of her dating back to our late teen years. My parents Lucienne and Marcel were great friends with Hector and Therese and always talked about the wonderful memories they had, she will be sorely missed.

We were very sorry to hear that Madame Hotte has passed. While she was the matriarch of the Hotte family, in many ways she was the matriarch of the original Lac Sam community. In the days when heat was generated by the wood you chopped, light was from kerosene, and refrigeration was from blocks of ice harvested during the winter from the lake, Madame Hotte exemplified the “spirit” of the lake. She and Hector were often the first to offer help, support or a cold beer whenever needed. They hosted many “happy hours” which turned into potluck dinners followed by sing songs which lasted long into the night. Thanks to the Hotte’s and the other Lac Sam originals, the Lac Sam Community has maintained a culture of mutual support, mutual respect and mutual friendship.
Our sincere condolences to the extended Hotte family. Madame Hotte may be passed, but her legacy will never be forgotten.
