Peacefully in hospital on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband of Audrey Phillips (nee Dagenais). Dear brother of Mary Shaw, Finnan, and Francis Phillips. Vernon is also predeceased by his eight other siblings. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Vernon was born and raised on a farm in Glengarry County. When he retired from working for the public service, he returned to farming which was his passion in life. The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road), on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10 am in the Chapel of Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank Street, followed by interment. A light lunch will be served in the reception center of McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home following the burial.
