Vince was born on March 3, 1935, in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, United Kingdom, to Patrick Murphy and Margaret Morgan. He was the eldest of three children. Though his siblings Ron (Lana) and Monica (Michael) predeceased him, he loved them dearly and remembered them fondly.
Vince leaves behind his beloved daughter Melissa (Brent), whom he proudly called his greatest achievement, as well as three cherished grandchildren: Emily, Owyn, and Ayla. He was also a longtime stepfather to Kim (Bill) and Claudia, and a proud step-grandad to Maya, Kylie, and Marco.
Vince lived a full life enriched by many passions. He was an avid cyclist and loved traveling the world. Throughout his life, he remained deeply devoted to dogs and canine obedience training. In midlife, Vince bred and trained Great Pyrenees and was especially proud to achieve the first-ever Utility-level obedience degree in Canada for a Pyr, with his beloved dog Cymru. He shared his passion for dogs with everyone he met. He spent his days, including his last, walking dogs for others, and the people he helped became a cherished part of his community. Their companionship and shared love for dogs kept him young at heart.
Vince also had a lifelong love of sports. While he rooted for Welsh football teams, the English Premier League, and the Ottawa Senators, his greatest pride came from watching his grandchildren excel in their sporting pursuits. He also had a deep appreciation for mathematics and loved helping his daughters and grandchildren master new concepts, always eager to pass on just one more skill. The love and wisdom Vince shared with his family will live on in their hearts forever.
Vince, our love for you will endure. We’ll “take care of each other,” just as you always asked. Your legacy will live on in all who loved you. We’ll miss your heart, your wit, and your Welsh cakes!
