Born in Ottawa in 1949, the first child of Franklyn George and Marie Rita Bradford (nee Durocher), Bryan left us suddenly on Sunday November 19th 2023. He will always be loved and remembered by his wife of 48 years, Margaret (nee Cleaver) and his children Cynthya, Michael (Bridget) and Amy Petre (Gordon). He was predeceased by his son David Christopher in 1973. Bryan was very much loved by his grandchildren Kaitlyn and Jordan Smith and by his sister Diana-Lynne Bradford, his niece Shannon Atieh (Nader) and nephews Frank and Gary Chamberlain (Erika). Bryan’s passion was genealogy. He had extensively researched his family tree going back to William Bradford (1590-1657) of the Mayflower. His love of searching for ancestors made him the perfect person to become the Archivist and Record Keeper on the Board of Trustees of St George’s Hawthorne Cemetery. He so much enjoyed meeting the families of the cemetery’s occupants as well as surveying and mapping the cemetery. He also loved sports and music, a love which he passed on to his children. He was a keen Blue Jays fan. A Memorial Service honouring Bryan’s life will be held at St Aidan’s Anglican church, 934 Hamlet Rd, Ottawa on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 11 am. Donations in Bryan’s memory to St Aidan’s church or St George’s Hawthorne Cemetery would be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.McEvoy-Shields.com.
