Władysław "Walter" Paczek

It is with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear Władysław “Walter” on July 26, 2025, at the age of 105. Surrounded by his loving family, Walter was peacefully reunited with God, his parents, and his brothers and sisters.

Walter was born on November 18, 1919, in Żegocino, Poland, to his parents, Valemty and Anna. He immigrated to Canada in 1950.

A devoted and loving father, Walter shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Julia (née Sulek). Together, they raised three children: Barbara (Pierre Machaalani), Adam (Kathryn), and John (Erin). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Pamela (James Smith), Emile, Jessica, Amanda, Zoë, Aiden, and Jake, and his great-grandson, Levi.

He is survived by his sister, Stanisława Bereta of Poland, and many nieces and nephews.

Walter will be remembered for his generosity, deep faith, love of family, and passion for gardening. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home (1411 Hunt Club Road). A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Hyacinth Church (201 Lebreton Street North, Ottawa). Burial to be held at Hope Cemetery.
