Andres Herrera Sanchez graced our family with love, wisdom, and warmth for 70 years. On June 7, 2018, our loving father departed us to be with our Lord in Heaven. He was one of 12 children born to Jesus and Margarita Herrera in Cueramaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, on February 1, 1948. He came to Oxnard, California in 1968 where he met and married our mother Gloria Herrera in 1970. For the next 47 years they made their home in Oxnard where they raised three children. Andres was a very hard working man having worked in agriculture for over 20 years until he opened up his own restaurant of Mexican food in Camarillo and Ventura in the early '90s. Our father was an avid and ever faithful fan of the Chivas del Guadalajara and the New York Yankees. He always kept himself up-to-date with his favorite teams’ statistics by reading his favorite newspaper, La Opinion. Up until his death, he made his daily walk to the 7-Eleven to purchase his newspaper and his Lotto and scratchers. You would always catch him reading his paper, checking his Lotto numbers, scratching a ticket or playing cards. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren; especially his grandchildren. His love for them was like no other. He would always make sure to call them on a daily basis to see if they had eaten and if they were fine. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife who stood by him until his death, Gloria, his children: Linda (Pedro) Resendiz, Daniel, Consuelo (Omar) Vieyra. 8 grandchildren: Dalia, Andrea, Lucia, Isabel, Gonzalo, Camila, Pedro Alejandro, Karla. 1 great-grandson: Romeo A. Delgado. 6 sisters, 2 brothers and many nieces and nephews. Until the very end he fought a great fight and left us peacefully with our mother by his side. Until we met again “Mi Viejito”, our Superman, Rest in Peace our beloved father.

8 nietos: Dalia, Andrea, Lucía, Isabel, Gonzalo, Camila, Pedro Alejandro, Karla. 1 bisnieto: Romeo A. Delgado.

Please accept my most sincere condolences for your recent loss. May you remember all the great times you shared with him and may it bring you a smile and warm your heart. John 5:28,29 reminds us that the resurrection is a sure hope. Hebrews 6:10 reminds us that God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and love you showed..”. All the good your father did for many will never be forgotten and will be rewarded. Your family is in my prayers.
