Our loving mom unexpectedly left this world to be with her Lord Savior on October 21, 2022.
Our beautiful mother was born in Cavite, Philippines on March 25, 1939. She is the daughter of Cresenciana “Marciana” and Basilio Valenzuela Molina.
Her humble beginnings in Philippines started with her family of twelve siblings. Our mom was the middle child being the 6th born. Her parents and family meant the world to her as she shared so many stories of their love, loyalty, and family bond.
Aspired to be a Pharmacist, her dream was cut short during a time when there was too much risk with women and education. However, she persevered with her intelligence and natural gifts. Our mom had a keen sense of numbers and math with incredible memory.
She had many suitors for her hand in marriage, but our father Charlie Andres De Jesus won her over but more so, her parents gave their blessings. They married on Sept. 1st 1963. She started her life as a Navy wife in the United States. She traveled cross country around the US often going back home to Philippines to be with her parents and family. They were blessed with their first child in 1967, Steven, followed by Leila and Cindy.
Our mom and dad decided to make their permanent home in Oxnard, CA for the beautiful weather, community, and beaches in the late 70s. She started as a homemaker and eventually began a career in manufacturing, and retired supporting the aerospace industry at PAC Foundries. With her strong work ethics she was respected as a dependable and high achieving employee. She also became “mom” to many colleagues that loved her for her loving nature, and of course, her incredible filipi-no food.
Her biggest pride was being a mom and spending as much time with her children and grandchildren. The many trips to the base, shopping, going to casinos, Vegas trips, grandma time, eating out, recipe sharing, how to cook her style, and girl’s weekend. She was a girly girl who loves her shoes, purses, make up, and clothes. She always had the biggest smile being together.
Our mom loved ceramics and sewing. Most of all, we were blessed with her love and passion for cooking. She taught us the importance of family dynamics that was centered around having meals together and breaking bread with many family and friends. We grew up with our mom welcoming our friends in our home, always with an open door and something to share in her kitchen. Our friends loved her like a second mom.
Known to many as “Sion”, she was loved by so many family and friends. She was the matriarchal figure to the family and relatives, having helped many transition to the US, whether it was opening our home or simply supporting their needs through the years. She loved helping her family.
Our mom became widowed at a young age of 53 in 1992 after 29 years of marriage. Our dad and mom were inseparable with so much love and care. It was amazing to see the strength and individu-ality of our mom. She eventually became a grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 3. She cherished her role in raising her grand-babies. At the same time, she was finding her new pass time and love for playing slot machines and going to her favorite casinos. Above all, our mom was an avid Catholic and often told us to “Always pray and Trust in God”, “Laging manalangin, magtiwala sa Diyos”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Andres De Jesus, her parents, and six of her siblings. She is survived by her two sisters, Agueda “Tabon” Molina, Josefina “Penny” Reano, one brother, Aquilino “Ino” Molina. Her children, Steven De Jesus (Naomi), Leila De Jesus-Crouse (David), Cindy De Jesus-Mejia (Alfredo). Grandchildren: Tamara (Jeff), Devin (Vanessa), Charley, Matt, Sean, Noah, Bella, Ava, Adam, Jacob. Great grandchildren: Isabel, Nicholas, Amari.
Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at Funeraria de Angel, 830AM visitation. Rosary at 10AM. Mass at St. Anthony Church,12PM. Burial at Santa Clara Cemetery 2PM.
