With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved son and brother, Daniel Herrera, who left us on August 22, 2025, at the age of 50. Born in Ventura, California, Daniel was the second born and cherished first and only son of Andres and Gloria Herrera and a proud 1993 graduate of Hueneme High School. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he found joy in baseball, football, and Mexican fútbol—especially cheering for his beloved New York Yankees, New York Giants, and Águilas del América.
Affectionately known as “Konejo”, a nickname lovingly given by our father and carried with pride throughout his life, Daniel will always be remembered for his genuine kindness, boundless love, and unforgettable smile. He was a devoted brother to Linda and Consuelo, always ready with encouragement, laughter, and an open heart.
Daniel’s greatest joy was his family. His face lit up whenever he spoke about them, and his love knew no limits. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need—even if it meant going without. Though life took him down a different path, he eventually found his way back home—where he belonged, even if just for a little while. Danny, lights guided you back to us, and though your time here was too short, your memory will live in our hearts forever. We love you deeply and will miss you every second of our lives.
Daniel is survived by his devoted mother, Gloria, and his loving sisters, Linda Resendiz (Pedro) and Consuelo Vieyra (Omar). He will be forever missed by his beloved nieces and nephews: Dalia, Andrea, Lucia, Isabel, Gonzalo, Camila, Pedro Alejandro, and Karla—as well as by his extended family and many dear friends who loved him like their own.
A vigil and rosary will be held on Thursday, September 11 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, followed by interment at Santa Clara Cemetery, all in Oxnard, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Daniel’s name to the Ventura County Rescue Mission of Oxnard, California.
