Ernie Martin Duran, born on May 2, 1980, entered eternal rest on August 10, 2025, at the age of 45 in Bakersfield, California. He is survived by Leo Isaac Duran, Destiny Jahnae Duran, Ezra Matthew Duran, and Kyro Lafyette Duran.
A lifelong resident of Oxnard, Ernie had a presence that stood noticed in any room. He had a way of making those around him feel truly seen, loved, and valued. His laughter was contagious, and his playful soul left lasting memories with all who were blessed to know him.
Above all, Ernie’s greatest joy in life was being a father. His children were his pride and joy, and every moment with them was treasured. Whether he was sharing a home-cooked meal, having a silly moment, or simply making them laugh, Ernie’s love for his children was deep.
He had a love for cooking, and his strawberry shortcakes became a family favorite—so much so that loved ones eagerly anticipated them even on out-of-state trips. His meals weren’t just food, but acts of love that brought people together.
Ernie was also a passionate sports fan, faithfully supporting the Colts, Dodgers, and Lakers. He expressed his pride through his style, often dressed sharp in his team’s gear paired with his classic Jordans—a look as intentional and memorable as the man himself.
To know Ernie was to know someone who lived with love, humor, and authenticity. His memory will live on in the hearts of many, but above all, he will be most dearly missed by his children, mother, siblings and his former spouse, Sonia Fino-Duran.
Ernie’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and family. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made on those around him will live on.
