Jack Milbourne Milne
December 26, 1935 – April 13, 2021
Jack Milbourne Milne (12/26/1935 – 04/13/2021) 85 of Oxnard, passed away at his home with his daughter, Tracy by his side.
Jack was born to James and Ethel Milne in Jefferson City, Missouri. His family relocated to Snoqualmie, Washington where he graduated from Mount Si High School. Choosing to join the US Air Force after graduation and stationed at the former Oxnard Air Force Base in California. After his term ended, Jack stayed in Oxnard becoming employed by Teleflex Aerospace Actuation (formerly The Tally Corporation) where he worked for over 35 years. It was there that he met his wife, Ruby.
Jack and Ruby enjoyed road trips to visit family, annually attending races at The Laguna Seca Raceway, golfing, family dinners (especially Ruby’s cooking), attending school functions, sporting events, and sharing in the milestones of life with their grandchildren. After retiring, Jack became a fan of swap meets, flea markets and thrift stores. Always on the hunt for trinkets, black and white photos or anything he thought to be a “good deal”. He also liked going to the gym (mostly to socialize), was an avid reader, dabbled in photography and rarely missed a day working on his crossword puzzle. Jack had a brilliant mind and shared his extensive knowledge of history, his days in the military and many stories he had gathered during his life. He could be found most Wednesday’s sipping coffee at his favorite mechanic’s shop talking for hours, enjoying menudo at Montezuma’s after church on Sunday, old movies, PBS, Saturday breakfast outings with his daughter and granddaughter, music (lately Ella Fitzgerald on repeat), tending to his yard and many hummingbird feeders, along with caring for the stray cat that one day decided to stay. He and Ruby attended Bethany Chapel in El Rio and found great comfort in his fellowship at church and his developing faith.
Jack is survived by his two daughters, Tracy Milne Williams, and Janet Wood (Jim Wood), brother Greg Milne, brother in-law and sister-in-law Murray and Dora Macdonald, brother-in-law and sister in-law Bill and Valorie Collier. Grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan and Jessica, Williams, Emily Sullivan-Detwiler, Erin Hagar, Kori Villegas, Brandon Barrios, Marcus Barrios, Ryan Smith, and Jason Burns, including 12 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruby; son Jim Sullivan; and daughter Julia Sullivan-Nye.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 15th at Bethany Chapel 1076 East Stroube Street Oxnard, CA
