

John is survived by his 1st wife Edolina Sanchez Diaz and 2nd wife Erlinda Diaz, his children Michael John Diaz, Gina Marie Diaz, Deo DeLeon, daughter in laws Erendira DeLeon and Maria Angela Almonte Diaz and 5 grandchildren; Scotty Phillips, Gabriel Jeremiah Diaz, Ashley DeLeon, Eric DeLeon, and Arianna DeLeon.
He is predeceased by his brother Benjamin Diaz, his sister Josephine Alvarez, his father Benjamin Diaz, and mother Florinda Diaz.
John was born on August 24, 1948, and grew up in Monterey Park, California. He graduated from an all-boys Catholic School at Cantwell High School in Montebello, California.
John served our country for 30 years, 12 of those years he had served as a Master Chief Sergeant. During his tenure, he was responsible for at least 3,000 men and women. He also served on the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, during the Vietnam War. He had retired at the age of 50.
During his retirement he owned a Home Interior business in Oxnard, California. He continued to enjoy collecting his favorites; guns, coins, stamps, movies, cameras, and playing his favorite game Halo. He also liked Mustang muscle cars, John Wayne movies and listening to his favorite band the Eagles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loved ones on Family Fridays, and all the Birthdays and Holidays.
He was always willing to listen and help in any situation possible. He loved to give advice to make life easier for the ones he cared about. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
