She was preceded in death by those parents Lelo and Irene Salinas and her brother Alfonso Salinas.
She was born and raised in Oxnard, CA. Throughout her life Josie stood and fought for many causes. Her beliefs in civil and human rights for all nations were dearest to her heart. She traveled to many corners of the world to spread her gift of love and acceptance. Josie's gift was unique in that those that met her, even briefly were changed for life. Her contributions to the broken spirits of the Wards she counseled is immeasurable.
After retirement, she was asked to return as the first female Native American Spiritual Advisor where she remained for the past 12 years. It was one of her greatest accomplishment to bring the Indian Traditions of the Native Americans to the Institution, including the Inipi Ceremony. Josie recently celebrated 24 years as an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
