

Juanita Velasquez Halog, peacefully passed at home on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 in Oxnard, CA at the age of 92. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her life and ultimately gave her heavenly peace.
Juanita is survived by her seven children, Romy, Rollie, Cecilia and Rebecca (of California, USA), and Nora, Domingo Jr. and Benny (of the Philippines), 21grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Domingo Tambot Halog, parents and 3 siblings.
Juanita was born on December 27th, 1927 in Pangasinan, Philippines) to Rufino Velasquez and Emiliana Abaoag. She married her sweetheart, Domingo. After having their children, Juanita moved to the United States in 1982. Over 20 years, she traveled the U.S. and raised many children, as a loving homemaker. Her gracious heart and energetic spirit impacted the lives of many, family and friends, whom she looked after as if they were her own.
Juanita was accomplished at cooking and dancing, and often engaged her mind in outlooks such as crossword puzzles, wordsearches, politics, and game shows – always knowing the answers to all. Additionally, she was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers, in which she hardly missed a game to cheer on her favorite team. She was a generous and dedicated board member of the Filipino American Seniors of Ventura County and Mary Star of the Sea Catholic community.
Mass will be held at 10am on Thursday, November 12th, 2020 at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Juanita’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to 4811 San Juan Ave, Oxnard. CA. The family would like to thank all for their generous support.
