Mateo A. Gastelum

Mateo Gastelum, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Friday November 20, 2015 with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born in Sinaloa, Mexico on March 23, 1934 to Marcelino and Cliceria Gastelum. At the age of 17, Mateo made Oxnard, California his home as he worked and later retired from 3M Company in Camarillo. When he was 26 years old he met and married the love of his life Lupe.

Mateo leaves behind his devoted wife, Lupe, after a beautiful 54 years of marriage. They had four children, Corinna Durazo, Howard Gastelum, Danny Gastelum (Kara) and Lorraine Durazo (Mario). He enjoyed being surrounded by his 10 grandchildren, Ralphie (Lina), Joseph and Michael Durazo, Sierra and Benjamin Gastelum, Bailey and Annika Gastelum, Justin, Louis, and Olivia Durazo, as well as his two great grandchildren Ayden and Austin Durazo. He was a prime example of a loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed

Services will be held Monday, November 30th, 6:30pm at Santa Clara Mortuary Chapel, 2370 N. “H” St., Oxnard, CA. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday December 1st, 10am at Santa Clara Church 323 S. “E” St., Oxnard, CA. Burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
