On October 4, 2023, Nellie Lee Jones passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born to Louise Valentine and Mittie Linton on December 16, 1935 in Greenville, MS. Nellie married her sweetheart Felton Jones and to this union they added four children. She was a proud alumnae member of the Greenville Mississippi Club for which she traveled annually to reconnect with her classmates. Nellie would later earn her associates degree from Ventura College. She went on to fulfill an almost 30-year career and retired from Civil Service at the Point Mugu Naval Base as an Inventory Control Manager.
Nellie was a true lover of life and brightened every room that she walked into with her charming personality. She could also play a mean hand of poker! She loved to laugh and spend quality time with her friends and family sharing stories of past and present. Her love for travel was inspired by her nearly lifelong membership to her favorite magazine, The National Geographic. She managed to travel to many destinations domestically and internationally, but there was no greater destination for her, than the one spent around her dinner table where she watched others enjoy her cooking and fight over her Mac & Cheese.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Felton Jones, her parents, Louise Valentine and Mittie Linton, her sisters-in-law, Everlena Langston, Bernice Walker and her late grandson Alfred Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her adult children Michael Forrest Jones, Alfred Dwight Jones, Debbie Ann Jones, Kenneth Earl Jones and her beloved Daughter in-law Celeste Jones. Her Grandchildren; Janeka Jones, Tonya Charmine Jones, Adrian Dante Jones, Rey Villa, and Jorden Jones, great-grandchildren; Janaize Jones, Tynessa Jones Marsaw, Devante Jones, Jaysean Jones, Rihanna Jones, Tianna Jones, and Felton Jones, a host of nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
