Agnes Mae Whitehead Sammons

Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Rocky Head Baptist Church with Reverends Bill Weed and Joe Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice.

Mrs. Sammons was born April 3, 1941 in Ariton, AL to Rayvon Albert and Rillie Mae Pipkins Whitehead. She worked with the Dale County School System as a dietician for the schools in Ariton.

Mrs. Sammons was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Marvin Sammons.

She is survived by her husband of 54 ½ years, Gerald Sammons; her daughters, Shelia (Kevin) Johnson and Sonja (Paul) Elmore; her son, Jerry (Barbara) Sammons; a brother, James (June) Whitehead; brothers-in-law, James (Julie) Sammons, Earl (Colleen) Sammons, Spurgeon (Chris) Sammons; sisters-in-law, Linda Faye Tucker and Sandra (Candy) Davis; also surviving are her grandchildren, Ben (Emily) Johnson, Andrew (Meagan) Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Della (John) Glover, Sabrina (Adam) McGee, Shayne Sammons (Emily Chaffinch), Samantha Elmore (Evan Watford); step-grandchildren, Brenda (Todd) Wagner, Randall (Lisa) Browning, Daniel (Raquel) Browning, Michael (Dawn) Browning, Christopher (Rachel) Elmore; her great-grandchildren, Bryce Johnson, Cameron Glover, Tayah Glover, Ethan McGee and Abree McGee; her step-great-grandchildren, Isaiah McMurray, Silas McMurray, Jeremiah Browning, Hannah Browning, Shastina Garrison, Trent Garrison, Meagan Wooten, Caleb Browning, MacKenzie Browning and Annabelle Browning; also her special caregiver, Fran Carroll.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Shayne Sammons, John Glover, Adam McGee, Evan Watford and Christopher Elmore.
