

Her service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Rocky Mount Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Carter, Rev. Scott Moffitt and Rev. Randolph Kelley officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Center Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark.
Born December 21, 1919, in Dale County, Alabama, Cullie was the eldest of two daughters born to Joseph Benjamin Phillips and Ada Bertha Glenn Phillips. Cullie was preceded in death by husbands, Ernest L. Allums in 1937 and Gladys Marcus (G.M.) Woodard in 1996; a son, Joseph Franklin Allums, in 2003; and a great-grandson, Joshua Adam Knurr in 1998.
Cullie and G.M. Woodard were the parents of Joseph Franklin Allums, and Gwen and Rhoda Woodard. They were married for 55 years and theirs were lives of caregivers for family members and friends.
Cullie was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. She was instrumental in the reorganization of Rocky Mount in the 1940’s, active church leader and teacher for over 50 years. She served in Alabama Association of Retired People, Southern Baptist Association, and was a volunteer for Ozark Nursing Home. She enjoyed singing, storytelling, picnics by the springs, and embroidery. In her 30’s, Cullie began her visits to Auburn. Cullie resided in her home in Ozark, Alabama for 63 years. She resided in Auburn, Alabama her last months.
Survivors are daughter-in-law, Alice Allums of Dublin, GA; daughter, Gwendolyn and Tommy Thompson, of Skipperville, AL; daughter, Rhoda and James Kerr, of Auburn, AL; and sister, Juanita and Robert Carter, of Vandalia, IL. Grandchildren are: Vic and Carol Allums, Amy and Steve Tribble, Lori and Wayne Taylor, Laura and Alex Knurr, Marc Thompson, Scot and Amy Thompson, Leah Hagler Stone Knight, Jody and Ping Hagler, and Craig Kerr. Special niece and nephew, Angela and Greg Strobel, and Eric and Vicki Carter. Special great niece, Joylynn Strobel, and great nephews, Pierce Strobel, Trevor and Nathan Carter. Great grandchildren are: Emily and Rachel Taylor; Coleman, Madison and Jordan Allums; Joseph and Jared Tribble; Dakota and Alissa Thompson; Alexa Knurr; Daniel and Dinah Shae Brook Stone; Rowan Kerr; Jacob, Jonah and Joshua Thompson. Many special cousins including Grace Dozier and Grady McInnis.
Cullie and her family were blessed to have concerned special lifelong friends, new friends and caregivers including Mary Driver, Eleanor Williams, and Josephine Gilley.
