Jeanette "Jan" Walker Byars

Helen Jeanette “Jan” Walker Byars passed through this world leaving behind a true family legacy; seven children, all J’s- Jack (Dena), Jan, Joy (Lindsey Knodel), John, Jeanne (Kirk Sanders), Joni (Doug Douglass), Jeff (Patricia). She leaves grandchildren; Jennifer Roberts (Daniel), Brean Nichols, Hadas Spivey (Russell), M. Daniel Leahy, Madison A. Hodge, Jackson V. Byars, J. Peyton Sanders, Gibson W. Byars, Lydia Jewels Douglass; great-grandchildren, Dakota J. Roberts, Ethan P. Roberts, Brennen E. Roberts, Reid T. Spivey; countless other relatives and friends.

Jan was a resident of Ozark Health and Rehabilitation for the last few years. She grew up in Dale County, settling in Dothan, AL with her children.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America or Ozark Health and Rehabilitation. On Sunday, February 20, 2011 there will be a reception in her honor at Bullets on Foster Street in Dothan at 1:00pm.
