Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Chris Eckert and Rev. Dr. Billy Gaither officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, AL 36360.

Claire was born September 11, 1924 in River Falls, Alabama to the late Charles and Grace Thesing. She spent most of her life as an Air Force wife with time spent in Japan and other interesting places.

Mrs. Pope is survived by her husband of 67 years, Phillip W. Pope; a daughter, Leslie James; a grandson, Phillip S. James; and a sister, Virginia Riley.
