To Mrs. Tierney, Landa, Lamar and extended family,

Please accept my sincerest condolences. Dick was a great friend and mentor during my time as Aviation Branch Historian. Besides his vast knowledge of Aviation people and events, Dick had a keen sense of humor. He also had a fierce loyalty to the Army, Army Aviation and especially its people. Our many lunches together as a member of my unofficial 'board of directors' were among highlights of those years. Sincerest best wishes to all his family as you go forward.

Dear Isabel Tierney, my thoughts and prayers are with you and family, I need to let you know how much Dick meant to my family, it was all of you that gave inspiration. We have been blessed, with family and friends, many memories that only God has instilled. Our prayers are with you now, know that we will Always and never will forget all that Dick had touched; but both of you had done for us. We all love you both ! Was so very sorry to hear of Mr. Tierney's passing.
As a coach, a neighbor and a mentor there is no telling the number of lives he touched. 
Living across the street from your family, catching for the Twins, cookies at Christmas, saki, kickball in the front yard, attending Prince of Peace, buried treasures in the back yard and sleeping in trees were some of the happiest days of my childhood.
Your family was our family.
We love you all so much.
