

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 22, 2015 at 5:00p.m. in the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Billy Gaither officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Victor, the son of Victor Carmi and Estella Mary Newbrough Ashcraft, was born on December 31, 1930 in Wallace, West Virginia. He was affectionately known as ‘Dean’ within the family. Mr. Ashcraft was a graduate of West Virginia University and joined the Army in 1953. He proudly served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Ft. Rucker, Alabama for a large part of his career, but also served tours of Germany, California and Alaska. During his 28 year career, Victor was awarded three Bronze Stars, a Silver Star, and the Legion of Merit Award. After retirement from the military, he was employed in security at Farley Nuclear Plant until 1992.
During his leisure time, Victor enjoyed photography, traveling, hunting and fishing. Additionally, he was an accomplished marksman. His life focus was his family and spending time with them gave Victor his greatest joys.
Victor was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Judith Lenore Ashcraft (Pigott).
He is survived by his sisters Mrs. Sandra Romeo of Ft. Mill, South Carolina and Mrs. Kay Ware of Grovetown, Georgia.; his daughters, Kathy West (Gary) of Birmingham, AL and Karen Johnson of Columbus, OH; his son, Victor Lynn Ashcraft of Aurora, IL; and two grandsons, Gregory Scott West of Seattle, WA and Connor Alan Johnson of Columbus, OH.
