We make a living by what we get,
If there's any truth to this then by all means Aon Lloyd Thompson made a great life.
Aon Lloyd Thompson, aka, Jointy, son of Mary Davidson and Phillip Thompson, was born on Wednesday, Feburuary 4th 1948, District of Castle Preistman River, Portland, Jamaica. He was the first born of twelve children.
As a youth, Aon attended Fair Prospect Infant and Primary Schools. He explored other careers including, masonry and tailoring. Eventually, Aon realized that his passion was to become an Electrician. He perfected this trade as a young man in Black Rock and Port Antonio. He then went on to Kingston, where he advanced in his trade. Aon worked in different parishes, making a name for himself along the way, even working for the Jamaican Bauxite Industry.
He sought greener pastures when he migrated to the United States in 1972, where he secured employment in Local Union #3 as an electrician. Throughout his career, Aon was hard working, dedicated and was rarely ever late for work, getting on the #6 Subway train at 5a.m. every morning, Monday to Friday and making himself avilable for overtime gaps. One of his last projects was rebuilding the new World Trade Center in New York City. After 34 years of service, Aon retired in May 2010. He relocated to Florida to enjoy his retirement with the love of his life, Yvonne.
It was in the year 2000, that Aon met the love of his life, Yvonne Clayton. He married Yvonne on July, 3rd, 2010. In addition to his daughter, Melanie and son, Aon Jr., Aon was the proud step-dad to Venecia and Christopher (who predeceased him).
To all that had the opportunity to know Aon, he is consistently described as gentle and respectful, an avid sports fan who loved music and would easily engage in any political disscussions. He was family oriented, loving, honest andbeleived in everything that was fair and just. He always showed generosity and kindness to those in need. Love, peace, dignity and dicipline was his motto. Aon was a devoted Christian and also had a deep passion for the Rastafarian religion/movement. He never ceased from seeking his heavenly Creator, Jehovah God (Jah) for help throughout his life.
Aon came on earth as a blessing to us. His death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves memories no one can steal which will be cherished forever. Now all the stars have gone, faded in the cracks waiting for you to come home. It was with tremendous sadness that we say farewell to Aon on November 19th, 2020. Aon, you will always be missed.
