Dear Great Mémé,

I am grateful to you for being so kind to my mother when she was a child.
 
Because of you, roses carry a special meaning in my mother's heart. Because of you, Blue Jay's bare fond nostalgia in their call.

So, as a daughter who cares very much for her mother, I thank you.

Due to the unfortunate circumstance of my mother passing away I never got to spend much time with the LeCour half of my family. The few visits I do remember are cherished, everyone always made me feel welcome and like part of the family but especially Meme. It is unfortunate that you never know you are going to lose someone until it is too late to make the effort to say the things you wish you had said. I wish I knew her better, heard her story from her own lips. In my thoughts often and forever. 

While my time with Me'Me was not as long as other family members, I have very fond memories of my times with her. She was so happy to accept me and my children into the family when Shawn and I got married. She loved to have us visit and watching the children play in the pool. She truly loved her family which could be seen in her bright smile and eyes. These lit up every time we were together. She will be missed greatly.

I am glad I got to see my Great Me'Me  so much as I grew up. I will always remember how she would get in the pool and swim with me. I love you and will miss you.

Most of my earliest memories involve my Me'Me. Most of these were from spending every summer that I could with her. She was always ready for me to visit. Even at 5 am with friends in tow, I knew she would great me with open arms. She was the hardest working women I have ever known. She was incapable of complaining but quick to let you know how dumb someone was. With memories and emotions she has created, she will never be forgotten. Pieces of her personality and quirks are embedded into who I have become. Thank you for all of these memories, Me'Me.

Meme was the rock of the LECOUR family.  She always made sure everyone was taken care of. I am so thankful that she raised her grandson, David. If not I would not have met him. When I was away at college, Meme would tell the girls who would call that David had a girlfriend and then hang up on them. 
I will always remember the country music playing every time I came over. I use to hate country music. Now that’s all we listen to. 
I always admired Meme’s backyard. It had beautiful rose bushes, plants and flowers. There was always a dog named Queeny or Lady running around. 
I am thankful for the loving care Meme received the last 3 years by her daughter, Shirley. I am so glad we were able to honor her wishes of staying at home.  Meme raised an amazing family and I am blessed to be a part of. 


Me'me'  was a young grandmother to me, just 39 yrs, when I was born. My treasured childhood memories center around the green "cottage" house where she lived in Lakeside MA.  Staying over at her house was one of my favorite things!  I loved the smell of the juniper trees; The sound of bluejays; The deer statues in the back yard and the large swan planters.   As a little girl Me'me' kept roses and I was enchanted by them, she showed me how to appreciate them, thorns and all!
      I loved being at the kitchen table when me'me' turned on the Polka music!  She scrunched up her shoulders in a funny dance. Sometimes she took my hands to dance with her and Pe'pe' would make his fake protests, she would smile at me and stick her tongue out at him.  I remember well her impish expression, she would smile and bite the tip of her tongue at the side of her mouth.  Me'me' was always industriously cooking, cleaning and doing.  I appreciate how patient she was with me; teaching me to make confection roses one petal at a time,  we would eat the mistakes!  She took the time. . . showing me things, playing uno, bingo and walking me down the road to the lake for a swim! She let me "ride" crash her blue vintage bike as I went flying down the hill.  I remember . . . camper camping with cousins, strawberry flaky puffs, roses made of seashells, beautiful cakes, driving in her blue Cobra, dogs named 'Lady', her jewelry store at the foyer of the house, pinning her long hair up in curls at night. later on - our woman to woman conversations about mothering, her life in England and life in general. 

Me'me' I am thankful for the strength, humor, creativity & love of roses that you passed on to me.  I felt your love growing up and I've respected you all my life.  I'm so grateful for our last visits!  My garden now blooms with over 50 rose bushes and climbing roses. This June I added a row of the fragrant, red 'sweet spirit' rose bushes in your honor.  I love you! Your granddaughter; Heather


I've known Kat, and Bernice since Kat and I were about 10 years old. Bernice thought I was the one that was a bad influence on Kathy, but in later years she realized it was Kat all along. For the past 40 years , Bernice was one of my stauch supporters.  Rest in peace my Dear.. 

I'll always remember traveling to Florida to surprise
Bernice for her 80th birthday. The look on her face and her reaction were priceless!
My condolences to Shirley, Kathy, Johnnie, Gary, and all of the extended LeCour family. Bernice will be missed.

Dear Family & Friends,,,my Hubby Alyre & I had the  wonderful chance too meet Eugene & Bernice,in Memphis in 1992 I believe,,we were all on vacation it took only 5 minutes too become REAL CLOSE FRIENDS,,they came too Farnham Quebec too stay for 2 week,s & we also went to Palm Bay too visit them,,where we met the rest of the Family,,they were ALL soo nice too us ,, Kat & Art,, Love you guy,s & soo did hubby,, after mu Hubby passed away I went down by train & another time by Bus,,,I especially like too THANK Shirley ,,who left her home town too take care of her Mom,,,,you are one great gal,, I am deeply sadden ,, & I will NEVER forget, MY two Best Friends,,  Bernice rest in peace along side of Eugene,,  may God Bless  all of you,,, I will never forget any of you,,xxxx

Hey MOM JUST WANTED TO SAY DON'T WORRY ABOUT LADY GIRL I AM PLANNING TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF HER. SHE IS MISSING YOU ALOT AND TIME WILL HEAL HER BROKEN HEART. I WILL NEVER TAKE YOUR PLACE IN HER MIND OR HEART.You and dad did a great job raising us kids just wanted you to know. LOVE YOU AND DAD FOREVER

Me’me’ was a remarkable, strong, woman.

I will always remember her making birthday cakes for me and my cousins, sometimes all celebrating our birthday on the same day, when we could all be together. I make the same style cakes for my children now. 

Some of my memories include picking out shells for a soap dish we were going to make. There was a store near the beach that sold them along with the small rose shaped soaps. 

She loves growing roses all around her backyard. They were always beautiful. 🌹💐🌹

She also loved her coffee sombreros if and when she ever drank. ❤️

I like to think she is the reason I am always making and crafting things myself. She taught me to crochet when I visited her and Pe’pe’ when I was in my twenties. I’ve made many crocheted blankets and stuffed animals thanks to her and that will always be with me. I still have a blanket she crocheted for me though it needs a little repair. 

My mom, Shirley, and I visited the house she raised seven children in at Lakeside and it brought back all of the beach memories I shared with my brother and cousins, like when Shawn, Heather and I each picked “pet” frogs in plastic buckets as we were walking to the beach, we brought them back and put the buckets on the back porch so we could go swimming. Mine didn’t do so well. 

I remember Me’me’ driving herself to work one morning and she almost forgot to drop me off at my other grandmother’s house in Dudley because she said I was so quiet. I couldn’t have been older than four.  Haha

I will always hold memories of her and Pe’pe’ dear to my heart. I will always miss them.💕

Mom, I miss you already ! I got to spend the last 32 years with you , and I'm so thankful for that , I have a lot of good memories of us and all the things we did together . I will continue to laugh when I stop and think of these moments we shared. And I will tell the stories, which will bring joy to others and make them laugh too. You were more than a mother to me, you were my best friend. We did a lot of things together. You will always be with me everywhere I go, everything I do. You will always be in my thoughts. I know you will be looking out for me until we are together again. I love you Mom

Dear mom please know I will miss you however I know you are with Dad and the country music is playing non stop. We will all be togeather some day in that mansion that I'm sure dad is building as I type this. Love you forever

Dear mom just wanted to take a moment and tell you how much I am going to miss you. I'm thankful that for the last 3 years I trully learned what a strong loving mom you always where. When you where raising us you never had the time to show us who Bernice was. You are going to be missed in physicle body but never in my mind or actions. You left a large imprint on my soul and you made me into the women I am today and if I where to go back I wouldn't change a thing. Love you MOM

Finding peace during a time of grief and loss can become overwhelming without friends and family to lean on. I will always remember Aunt Bernice and how much she loved all of you. I wish I could take the pain away. Just know I am thinking of all of you and I am here for you. Luv Carol
