Betty grew up in Oakland County, MI and graduated from Berkley High School in 1942. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company after graduation. She married Kenneth Douglas Greene on April 17th, 1943 near Fort Belvoir in Virginia where he was stationed during WWII. Betty and Kenneth went on to raise two wonderful children, David (Gayle Lane) and Carol (Dennis Grebur).
Betty and Kenneth delighted in the birth of five grandchildren: Laura Greene, Brian Greene, Meghan Grebur, Phillip Grebur, and Brendan Grebur. The fact that they became great-grandparents was a source of wonderment and pride as well. Carolann, Laura, David and Duane enriched their lives.
Betty enjoyed such a variety of interests throughout her life; sewing, gardening, playing the piano and the organ, canning, painting, bike riding and more!
Betty is predeceased by her husband Kenneth, her daughter Carol and her granddaughter Laura Ann. She has two surviving brothers, Richard (Geri) Dougherty of Palm Bay and Don (Irene) Dougherty of Sparta, Tennessee. Her other siblings predeceased her; Gail, Leahdel, Lutrenna, Vern, and Ruth.
A strong woman is one who feels deeply and loves fiercely. Her tears flow as abundantly as her laughter. A strong woman is both soft and powerful, she is both practical and spiritual. A strong woman in her essence is a gift to the world. Each of us who knew Betty was blessed to have such a woman in our world. If you have a Betty story please feel free to share it at this time ….]
