Carol Ann Bergton was a caring partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Carol passed away on January 15th, 2021 at the age of 61 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Carol was born to Eleanor and Herb Bergton on August 16, 1959. A lifelong resident of Brevard County, Carol’s passion and love of life were legendary among those whose lives she touched. No more so than among those surviving her, including her best friend and partner Terry and his children, her six children and their partners: Michael, Clinton, Hilary, Rodney, Mariel, and Tedman, her three grandchildren: Sydney, Forrest, and Carter, her mother Eleanor, brothers John and James, and sister Elizabeth.
In her life, Carol was a free spirit who knew no limits to what she could do. Carol possessed a unique ability to find common ground with anyone and everyone she met, often breaking down the barriers for others to come together in ways they never would otherwise. Carol’s love of travel brought her to over 29 countries and 5 continents. Whether it was mingling with native tribes in Africa or befriending strangers at a biergarten in Germany, Carol left an indelible mark on the lives of those she brought together with her laughter and love.
As a mother, Carol exemplified the virtues of sacrifice and compassion to her children. Her examples imparted the wisdom that while life is not always easy, family should always be there for a hug and a laugh when you need it the most. As a daughter and sister, Carol was at home and at peace with those she knew her entire life. As a friend, Carol was a source of boundless energy and strength, who was often seen as the life of the party. As a partner in love and life, Carol was the greatest joy one could ever wish for. Whether it was staying in for the night to watch a movie, or taking 3 flights over 28 hours to find a bar above the Arctic Circle in Svalbard, Longyearbyen (Norway), she was always engaged and ready to live life to the fullest.
Carol will be laid to rest with her family at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay, FL in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed on Carol’s behalf to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network; a charity focused on research and support for those individuals battling pancreatic cancer (https://www.pancan.org/)
