Carol T. Mason was born on April 9, 1945, in Claremore, Oklahoma, and later moved with her family to Pueblo Colorado. She spent her childhood surrounded by the love of her extended family and was a proud member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Carol attended Bessemer Elementary, East High School, and Southern Colorado State College before continuing her studies at the University of Colorado.
Carol's adventurous spirit and creativity flourished at CU, where she discovered a love for writing, acting, and dreamed of becoming a Country and Western singer. It was during her time at CU that she married Charles Mason on March 10, 1977.
A lifelong learner, Carol had a passion for history and an extensive library, particularly focused on African American history. She also loved movies, especially Disney classics, mysteries, and all things James Bond. Her family fondly remembers her tradition of watching Jeopardy! each evening.
Carol's zest for life took her across 18 states, 6 countries, and numerous homes. She loved meeting people and never met a stranger she couldn't connect with, bringing warmth and conversation to everyone she encountered.
She is preceded in death by her sister Brenda Oliver; her parents, Theresa and Brown Broaden; her grandson Andrew Hoskins; and her sister-in-love, Alene Lemons. Carol's memory lives on through her devoted husband of 47 years, Charles Mason; her children, Samuel Hoskins and his wife Liz Hoskins, Alfred Hoskins and his wife Sharon Hoskins, Charmain Staley, Michelle Sweet and her husband Bobby Sweet, and Charles Mason; her bonus child, Tasha McBride and her husband Steve McBride; 11 grandchildren: Keyasha, Kenya, Devaughn, Scott, Elijah, Trinity, Amaya, Josiah, Ezra, Isaac, and Jasmin; and 8 great-grandchildren: Chance, Phoenix, Tylar, Phoster, Dallas, Kayden, Alyssandra, and Ayla.
Special mention goes to the Calvary Chapel Melbourne Grandmothers' Group, whose love and support enriched her life.
Carol's love, wisdom, and adventurous spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
