Carol Lillian (Barnes) Saloga, age 84, of Malabar, Florida passed away on Monday March 18, 2024. Growing up in Wisconsin, Carol raised her six children in Illinois and spent her later years in Florida.
Mom also known Madre was so loved and cared for by others, she was given many nicknames like Momma Carol, Granny, Oma and Bestie. She could often be found quilting in her craft room while thinking of her next project for her loved ones. She loved baking, gardening, sewing and bringing family together for her homemade Thanksgiving Feast. Genealogy and her heritage groups helped her learn more about history and her family background which were very important to her.
She wore a bright smile, had a contagious laugh and was sunshine to all. As much as she adored everyone she met, she was loved ten-fold in return.
She is survived by her son George Schlangen and daughters Charleen Miller, Carol Lopez (Joseph), Christine Beese, Connie Schlangen and step children Jodi Blohm and Ernest Saloga. Fully loved by grandchildren Ryan, Bradley, Shannon, Trisha, Tami, George Jr., Jennifer, Kimberly, Teanna, David, Christopher, Nicholas, 20 great grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and sisters Beverly Davidson, Deborah Ruszkowski, brother Ronald Davenport.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest A. Saloga, sister Ginger Spalding, daughter Catherine Schinler, grandson Robert Schlangen and great grandson Lucas Aragon.
She was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution; Daughters of 1812, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War and New Testament Worship Center.
Her family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for her birthday, September 7th 2024 at New Testament Worship Center in Tampa, FL.
