As the founder of the Rocket Club (1956-57), I feel a special need to add a note of sorrow and appreciation at Charlie Compton's passing. I keep very fond memories of his cheerful manner in class and of his good teaching and encouragement of our extracurricular pyrotechnic activities in the Club. Now I'm putting some of Charlie's good teaching to work in a forthcoming book on climate change with Peter Langdon Ward. Thanks, Charlie, you will not be forgotten!

So, so sorry to hear of Art's passing. He will remain a large part of my UU life in Florida.
Lee and family, I extend my sincere condolences.

I was a physics student of Arthur Compton at Phillips Exeter Academy.  I also was an early member of the school Model Rocket Club where he was the faculty advisor.  I remember all my science teachers well and they were a fine bunch.  Mr. Compton the friendliest of teachers both in and out of the classroom.  Today I am an astrophysicist working on European Space Agency and NASA solar research satellites and I owe a lot to the teachers that encouraged studying science in high school.
