With humble hearts and complete trust in God’s perfect will, we celebrate the life and homegoing of our beloved Doreen Monica Simpson, affectionately known to so many as “Aunt Doreen.” On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Lord welcomed His faithful servant into His eternal presence at the age of 87.
To those who knew her best, Aunt Doreen was more than an aunt—she was a second mother, a faithful prayer warrior, a trusted confidante, and a steadfast example of Christ’s love in action. Her life was a living testimony of grace, compassion, and unwavering faith, and the love she poured into others will continue to echo for generations to come.
Doreen was born on August 28, 1938, in Saint Kitts, Saint Kitts and Nevis. She spent her early years on the island she proudly called home before later living in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. She eventually made her home in Brooklyn, New York, and later settled in Palm Bay, Florida, where she continued to touch countless lives through her love, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering faith.
She was the devoted wife of the late Chester Morris Simpson. Affectionately known as “Aunt Doreen,” she became a second mother, mentor, caregiver, and trusted friend to many. She lovingly cared for generations of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and countless others whose lives she embraced as her own. Her home was always open, her table was always welcoming, and her heart was always ready to serve.
For more than 25 years, Doreen faithfully served as a gastroenterology assistant at St. Vincent Hospital. She carried herself with professionalism, compassion, and genuine concern for every person she encountered. She cared for her patients with the same compassion, patience, and love that she so freely gave to her family and friends. Her caring spirit extended far beyond the workplace and reflected the servant’s heart that defined her entire life.
Doreen was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful member of Praise Cathedral in Melbourne, Florida. Her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of everything she did. She trusted God in every season of life and sought daily to live according to His Word. Her life reflected the love, humility, kindness, forgiveness, and compassion that Christ taught. More than anything else, she desired for God to be glorified through the way she lived.
She found joy in gardening, cultivating beautiful outdoor spaces, preparing meals for family and friends, listening to music, and giving of herself without expecting anything in return. She faithfully supported numerous charitable organizations, including those serving veterans, the homeless, orphaned children, and communities in need around the world. Helping others was not simply something she did—it was who she was. She lived a life of generosity, and her kindness touched lives both near and far.
Those who knew Aunt Doreen will forever remember her gentle spirit, warm smile, generous heart, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and steadfast love for others. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. Whether through a kind word, a heartfelt prayer, a home-cooked meal, or a helping hand, she consistently reflected the love of Christ in her daily life.
Her Legacy
Doreen’s greatest legacy was not found in material possessions, but in the countless lives she touched through her unwavering faith, generous heart, selfless service, and unconditional love. She taught those around her to trust God, serve others with compassion, and place Christ at the center of their lives. Her example of humility, kindness, and unwavering devotion to God will continue to inspire generations to come.
While our hearts grieve her passing, we rejoice in knowing that her legacy of faith, compassion, generosity, and selfless service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her life reminds us that true greatness is found not in what we possess, but in how faithfully we love God and serve others.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, extended family members, cherished friends, her church family, and the countless lives she touched through her love, generosity, and unwavering faith.
