Dorene "Consie" Johnson

“Consie” migrated to the United States in the Mid-1950’s. She successfully completed nursing school and upon graduation began working at Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

She married Oscar Anglin (Dec’d 3/11/91) in June 1962. This union produced two children, Camille Grace and Hugh Lloyd ( Dec’d 7/27/90).

“Consie” went on to work as a Registered Nurse at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, in Brooklyn, for twenty five years. Shortly after her retirement she relocated to Palm Bay, Florida. She was very active in her church and community.

“Consie” was very energetic, loving, kind and sweet. She had a beautiful personality. You could not help falling in love with her. She made everyone feel comfortable. She always had something to give when anyone visited and never hesitated to show her warm hospitality. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends as often as possible. She loved her homeland of Jamaica and travelled home frequently to visit with family there.

She would like to be remembered as a single mother who raised her children to respect and love their family; as a caring and dedicated nurse who took care of the sick and was always able to put a smile on their faces and as a good friend, confidante and loving cousin who always did her best to bring family and friends together whether through Birthday, Christmas or New Year’s parties. She also wished for her family members and loved ones to know that because of her faith she did not fear death itself. She did not think of it as the end, but as a new beginning for her.

“Consie” leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Camille Anglin Roper, her Mother, Floris Martin, son-in-law John Roper, brothers Clarence Johnson, Seymour McLeod, Alvin McLeod, Melvin McLeod, Clive McLeod, Sperjohn McLeod and their respective spouses and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other devoted relatives and friends, all of whom celebrated her life.

Consie, May bands of Angels guide you to your rest. Though you are gone from our presence, in our hearts memories of you live on.
