

Ebenezer (Jay) Korbina Ghansah was born on July 30th, 1948 in Kaduna, Nigeria. His parents were Mr. Emmanuel Benjamin Taiwan Ghansah and Madam Mary Quayeba Anderson both from Seya Braku in the Central Region of Ghana. Upon his family’s return to Ghana Jay attended Odorgono Secondary School. After graduating he joined the Ghanaian Air Force. Jay subsequently moved to Germany, where he undertook training and became a certified Master Technician for BMW, Porsche and Audi. He moved to Denmark, then Sweden, and ultimately Norway where he became a citizen. Jay visited the United States in 1985 to attend his nephew Emmanuel Sackie-Mensah’s wedding and later returned, moving to Miami, Florida to assist with the care of his ailing sister, Mary Stella Ghansah. When her health improved, Jay relocated to Gainesville, Florida and worked with the BMW, Porsche, Audi dealership for several years. Jay later moved to the central Florida area, residing in Orlando Titusville while working at the Chrysler dealership in Titusville before settling in Palm Bay, Florida where he met and courted Mrs. Jacqulyn James of Guyana, South America. Jay and Jacqulyn married in 1995; their union produced one child, their daughter, Ama Tahnia Ghansah. Ama is currently studying to be a Registered Nurse in Palm Bay.
Jay Ghansah had been ill for some time but was recovering and had been doing well; he unexpectedly worsened and succumbed to respiratory illness. Jay departed this earthly life world on June 28th, 2022 at a hospital in Palm Bay.
Jay Ghansah leaves behind his wife Ms. Jacqulyn James Ghansah and daughters Ama Tahnia Ghansah (Palm Bay, Florida); Nana Ghansah and Claire Ann Lonow (Denmark), Ekuah Ghansah Backlund (Sweden), and son Jay Matias Ghansah (Sweden).
Jay had six grandchildren Oliver Ghansah Thorsager; Thea Ghansah Thorsager; Caya Ghansah Byrnick; Jennifer Ghansah Jegervatn; Noa Ghansah Almgren and Nike Ghansah Almgren.
Jay was the youngest of both maternal and paternal siblings. Jay leaves behind his siblings from his maternal siblings, brother Mr. Ike Esianor, sisters Tirzah Esianor and Vida Esianor (Accra, Ghana). He was preceded in death by his paternal siblings Emmanuel Ghansah and Janet Ghansah (Nigeria); Peter Ghansah, Jacob Ghansah and Martha Ghansah (Ghana); and Mary Ghansah (Miami, Florida).
Jay further leaves to cherish his memory, several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless family of heart throughout the United States, Europe, and West Africa.
A visitation for Ebenezer will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
