Eric Uriah Brown

Jamaica to Joseph and Hannah Brown. He was the youngest of seven siblings, Harold, Ivy, Princilla, Leslie, Sebert, and Violet.

Eric attended Carisbrook Primary School, after that he chose to learn tailoring.

At the age of nineteen he migrated to the United States to work as an agricultural worker. In 1951 while living in Connecticut the Lord convicted him of his sins and his eyes were open to his need for a savior. It was then that he committed his life to the Lord. In 1952 he visited New York City; it was there he met Gertrude Peart, who soon after would become his wife. Eric was then baptized and brought into fellowship at Grace Gospel Chapel. Together, he and his beloved wife Gertrude would serve the Lord at Grace for 33 years. As a member of Grace, he served as an Usher and a Sunday School Teacher.

He was also responsible for the circulation of the Grace Gospel Chapel Testimony magazine. On Sundays, he would use his vehicle to pick up children and bring them to Sunday school. When he was not driving children to Sunday School, he used his time to hand out Gospel tracks on the subway train from Harlem to Brooklyn. Eric will always be remembered for being both a humble and loving person.

Once settled in New York, he worked at Rogers Peet and Company.

Then he worked on Wall Street as security officer. Eric and Gertrude relocated to the warm state of Florida in 1985. There they worshiped and served the Lord faithfully at Bethany Bible Chapel By the Sea at Satellite Beach. Gardening also became a hobby for Eric for many years. He enjoyed being out in his garden, planting fruits and vegetables. He would always share his fresh produce with friends and family. Eric was called home on May 23, 2024. He was the last of seven siblings, who all predeceased him in death. In 2002, his wife Gertrude also predeceased him.

Eric leaves to cherish fond memories of his two sons: Parnell and Dianthio, 9 Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews, and host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation for Eric will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Grace Bible Sanctuary, 726 James Circle, Palm Bay, FL 32905. A graveside service will occur Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
