The Waldrop Family is saddened to inform you of the passing of their mother Eva-Marie Brigitte (Juhre) Waldrop, on February 20, 2022. After what appeared to be a simple fall, she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Her heart and lungs started failing quickly and she was put on life support. It was always Eve’s wish to never exist on life support or become a “vegetable.” Granting her wish, it was removed. Surrounded by her three adult children, she passed away peacefully and painlessly moments later.
Eva-Marie was born May 26, 1934, the third of six siblings, to Reinhold A. & Irmgard M. L. Juhre, in pre-WWII Berlin, Germany. Her father died as a Russian prisoner of war after the war. She, her mother, and her siblings struggled to make ends meet, including the job of washing American G.I.’s clothes.
In the early 1950’s, she met and married her husband, Loyd E. Waldrop, an Army lab technician stationed in Berlin. They quickly had two children, Franziska and Thomas. They accompanied him as he was transferred between the United States and Germany a few times. Six years later she unexpectedly became pregnant and gave birth to Jeanette in San Antonio, Texas.
Loyd retired from the Army in 1974 and the family settled to Palm Bay, Florida, where Loyd continued to work as a lab tech. Eve went to Brevard Community College (BCC) and earned her Real Estate license and for twenty years became a successful realtor. Loyd retired again after twenty years and Eve retired shortly thereafter.
Eve and Loyd purchased a time share and spent two weeks on Fort Lauderdale’s beaches every year for almost twenty-five years. Eve’s favorite brother, Manfred, lived in Miami with his family and worked for Lufthansa Airlines. The two of them frequently flew to Germany before Christmas, bringing back tons of gifts, chocolates and other goodies. In later years, Eve had the time, the money, but not the health to go on trips and other vacations. She said her Golden Years was pretty tarnished.
Loyd died March 8, 2016, from Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Eve’s health also deteriorated, including COPD, A-fib, and CHF. She went to numerous doctors to find the causes but never got good answers. The fall triggered something in her body and she was gone in twenty-four hours. She is survived by her three children:
Franziska M. (Waldrop) Meek of Orlando
Thomas L. Waldrop of Palm Bay
Jeanette E. (Waldrop) Smith & husband Marc S. of Melbourne beach
Eve’s funeral, followed by a Celebration of Life, is at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 4th, 2022, at:
