Evelyn M. Moretti

Evelyn M. Moretti, 96, of Auburn, formerly of Florida, passed away on January 11, 2026, at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Port Smith, RI on July 20, 1929, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Macy and Jesse Medeiros Lema. She was previously employed as the branch manager of the credit union for GTE Sylvania in Batavia, NY. Evelyn had a strong faith and was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church. She was an avid reader, typically finishing a book in just a couple of days. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and word searches. Evelyn also had an eye for fashion and took pride in her appearance. Always dressing beautifully, even for a quick trip out of the house.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Stephen (Melody) Moretti and Chris (Sandy Schlicher) Moretti; her brother, Richard Lema; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Louis Moretti; her daughter, Lynn Berhaupt and her sisters, Beatrice and Irene.

Calling hours for Evelyn will be held on Thursday, January 15th from 4pm - 7pm in White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn NY. A funeral mass will be Friday in Sacred Heart Church at 10am. Evelyn will be entombed alongside her husband in Florida.
