Fermin Simon Archer, Sr.

Fermin Simon Archer was born in Panama in 1941, born to Samuel Archer and Iris Mc Pail Archer. We married on September 4. 1998 in New York City. He adopted my daughter Damjocef Diaz as his own child.

He will be missed by his sister, Joyce Archer William; his son from a previous marriage named Fermin Archer Jr. who had a nickname Sonny. His son was married to Amanda de Geneste; his grandchildren: Orlanzo Leon, Fermin Michael, Tiffany Nicole, Angel Sebastian and Curisma Mitchell and great-grandchildren: Obispo, Shane and Odin.

Fermin studied Architecture and Education. He was a Professor of Mathematics & Chemistry. He was a director of Zonification in the Department of Education in New York City. He participated in group meetings of education in different school in New York. One of the pioneers of the creation of the Eagle Academy School which started in Brooklyn N.Y. and now they are in all five boroughs. He participated in the organization of the 100 Black Men, as director of scholarships in New York City. In the year 2000 he retired from The Department of Education after 37 years of service. In the year 2005 we moved to Palm Bay, Florida. He immediately committed himself working for the community helping the Hispanic and other cultures. In the year 2006 he participated in a Cancer Program helping patients travel back and forth to get their treatments. He also volunteered working for Meals On Wheels bringing food to sick and senior citizens. He belonged to The Lions Club, participated in the Kairos Retreat in the Orlando prison. He participated in the Cursillo in Christianity in Orlando, where he was active in the school of the Formation of Cursillo. He served in different groups giving lectures to the participants. He was a vocal of the Cursillistas in Our Lady of Grace.

For several years he served in Love & Fishes Ministry helping the needy. A pioneer in the creation for the Spanish Masses in Our Lady of Grace. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and in February of 2005 we were elected as the family of the month. He participated as member of the Heart of Jesus. Part of the Couples Dynamics Retreat and participated for years in the Focus program assisting couples to get married.

Fermin enjoyed listening to music, playing Chess, and most of all reading. He was an emphatic, generous and sensible person always willing to please and help his family and friends. He enjoyed talking about his experiences in life. One of his best qualities was listening, analyzing and observing so that he could make good decision.

Fermin, You will never be forgotten. You will always be in our hearts.

Fermín Simón Archer nació en Panamá el año 1941. Su familia estuvo conformada de sus padres, Iris McPail Archer y Samuel Archer, y su hermana, Joyce Archer Williams. De su matrimonio anterior, Fermín tuvo un hijo, Fermín Archer Jr., llamado cariñosamente Sonny, quien estuvo casado con nuestra nuera Amanda de Geneste. Los nietos de Fermín son: Orlanzo, Fermín M., Tiffany, Angel, Curisma y sus bisnietos: Obispo, Shane, y Odín.

Fermín realizó estudios de Arquitectura y Educación; y se desempeñó como profesor de matemática y química participando en las juntas de educación de los diferentes distritos de Nueva York; hasta llegar a ser director de Zonificación del Departamento de Educación de Nueva York. Fue uno de los pioneros de la creación de las Escuelas Aguila en Brooklyn, las cuales actualmente están en 5 condados de Nueva York. Participó en la Organización de los 100 Hombres Negros de la Cuidad de Nueva York como Director de Becas.

Fermín y Dammeris contrajeron matrimonio el 4 de septiembre de 1998 en Nueva York; en esta nueva relación Fermín adoptó a Damjocef como su propia hija.

En el año 2000 después de 37 años de servicio, Fermín se retiró del Departamento de Educación; y en el año 2005, Fermín y Dammeris deciden mudarse a la Florida, estableciéndose en la Cuidad de Palm Bay, donde de inmediato él se puso al servicio de la comunidad.

En el año 2006, Fermín se une a un programa de cáncer donde recogía pacientes, los llevaba al tratamiento y luego los retornaba a su domicilio. También se unió al programa de Meals on Wheels en el que repartía comida a personas enfermas o mayores de edad. Él se hizo socio del Club de Leones, y participó en los Retiros de Kairo dentro de la prisión en Orlando. Fermín realizó el Cursillo de Cristiandad en la cuidad de Orlando, en el cual se hizo participante activo de la escuela, y sirvió en los diferentes Cursillos de Cristiandad dando charlas.

Fermín fue pionero en la creación de las misas hispanas en la parroquia Our Lady of Grace y formó parte en la Sociedad Knight of Columbus. Por su destacada participación en febrero del mismo año, la Sociedad Knight of Columbus nos distinguió como la familia del mes. Fue miembro activo del Corazón de Jesús y del equipo de “Dinámicas de Matrimonios” y participó por muchos años en el programa de Focus, preparando parejas para el matrimonio.

Fermín siempre estaba atento para ayudar a los demás, fue una persona empática, generosa, humilde, sencilla, un buen confidente y amigo. Sus cualidades eran escuchar, analizar, y observar para siempre tomar una buena decisión. Sus pasatiempos eran escuchar música bailable, jugar ajedrez y leer.

Fermín nunca será olvidado siempre estarás en nuestros corazones. Dios te bendiga.
