

He was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 6, 1917, to the late William B. and Anna Clavelin. Frank
moved to Fellsmere in 1919 and remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Fellsmere High School
and worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker until WWII. He proudly served his country as a sergeant
in the Army-Air Corp, 345th Bomb Group-Air Apaches. He was wounded in the Asia-Pacific Theater
during a kamikaze attack on the S.S. Nelson in November 1944.
After the war, Frank returned to Fellsmere and engaged in a variety of business enterprises over the
years. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout the United States and
parts of South America. He actively pursued both sports until shortly before his death.
Frank is survived by many loved ones, including: brother William Clavelin and wife Renata (Peekskill
NY); son Daniel Goodwin and wife Ann (Safety Harbor, FL); Penny Clark and daughter Trina (Fellsmere);
grand-daughter Jenna Walker and husband Ryan (Safety Harbor, FL); nephew Frank P. Clavelin
(Wappingers Falls NY); niece Christine Gable and husband Charles (Naples FL). He was also blessed with
four great-grandchildren (Jillian, Cameron, Cash and Jack Walker); three grand-nieces (Celena and Cierra
Gable and Haleigh Clavelin); and one grand-nephew (Mika Clavelin)
Frank was a long-time member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 3:00
pm on Friday, February 18, 2011, at the chapel of Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home 7359 Babcock
Street, SE, Palm Bay, FL. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic
Church, 12896 County Road 512, Fellsmere, FL 32948-5477.
