Frederick W. Kelly, Jr., 78, died Saturday (1/19) in Palm Bay Hospital. A native of Syracuse, New York, he came to the Palm Bay area in Nov 1994 from Syracuse. He as a Lutheran and had retired after 42 years from Carrier Air Conditioning Company where he had been employed in maintenance. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Marines. He had been a volunteer with the Palm Bay Health First Auxiliary since 2001 and was a member of the Elks Lodge here in Melbourne and the Barefoot Bay Marine Corps League.
Predeceased by two children William Kelly, III, Colleen Meadows and brother James; survivors include his wife Flora; three sons: Burt of Syracuse, NY, Brian of Mathews, NC, Stephen Slingerland also of Syracuse, NY; daughter: Nancy Moran of Syracuse, NY; brother: Paul of Palm Bay; two sisters: Margy Kelly of Palm Bay, Wendy Eberline of Newburgh, Indiana; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday (1/23) at 3:00 PM at the Fountainhead Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 until time of service on Wednesday. Interment will follow in Fountainhead Memorial Park. For friends who wish, the family suggests memorial donations to the Health First Foundation, 1350 S. Hickory St., Melbourne, FL 32901. Fountainhead Funeral Home is in charge of services.
