George “G.T.” Billie, Jr., 71, passed away Friday May 17, 2013. He was born on November 4, 1941 and raised in Malabar. He moved to Palm Bay 41 years ago when he married his wife Genevieve “Genie”. George graduated from Melbourne High School and joined the Navy. He served for 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. After returning from the Navy, he was hired at Kennedy space Center, where he worked for 44 years as a mechanic. He worked on the Crawler for various contractors until his retirement on August 1, 2008 from United Space Alliance. George was an avid hunter and fisherman.
George was preceded in death by his parents Mary and George, and his brother Donald, all of Malabar.
He is survived by his wife Genie, son Thomas; daughter, Jennifer (David) Gaffney, both the light of his life; Granddaughter Rebecca Gaffney; Grandson, Dawson Gaffney; and his “Best Bud's”: Dusty, Sammy, and Lil’bit.
Services will be Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:00am at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home.
George's brother-in-law, Rev. Dan Reaves will be officiating.
