

was born on September 23rd, 1932 in Cap-Haitian, Haiti.
She is the youngest of 8 children and the only daughter. Gertrude grew up to become a school teacher at a local private school.
In her mid-20s, a great friendship blossomed between her and her neighbor, Alphonse, which later turned into a beautiful relationship. From the moment they met, Gertrude and Alphonse were inseparable. On April 18th, 1963, Gertrude and Alphonse got married. During their marriage, they welcomed 2 children, Marie and Bernard.
After building strong roots in Haiti, Gertrude immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1968. Alphonse and their 2 children soon followed.
In Brooklyn, Gertrude worked as a housekeeper and certified nursing assistant for Brooklyn Hospital while Alphonse worked as an inventory clerk for Memorial Kettering Center.
In February of 1997, Gertrude and Alphonse decided to retire the busy life in Brooklyn and settle down in Palm Bay, Florida. During retirement, both Gertrude and Alphonse enjoyed beading, bike rides around the neighborhood, taking exercise classes at the local senior center and baking pastries. Gertrude also developed a love for game shows and soap operas, which she watched daily.
In the early hours of June 12th, 2026, the Lord called Gertrude home. Gertrude is survived by her husband of 63 years, Alphonse, her two children, Marie and Bernard, her daughter in law, Debbie, her son in law, Rudy, and her four grandchildren, Michelle, Lawrence, Raquel and Brandon.
Gertrude will be dearly missed. We thank you all for joining us in remembrance of a beautiful life. Gertrude will forever live in our hearts.
