Gloria Littlejohn was born on June 16, 1937 in Browns Town, St. Ann, on the island of Jamaica, West Indies. She was the youngest of seven children for Nehemiah and Georgiana Littlejohn. She outlived her parents and five siblings. She is survived by sister Daisy John, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Gloria was raised in a Christian home, and as a result, inherited strong Christian principles. Those of us who knew her well can attest to the fact that she held those values quite steadfastly throughout her life. She was a prayer warrior and always had an uplifting scripture verse to comfort someone’s soul.
After graduation Gloria migrated to England and pursued a career as a Registered Nurse and State Certified Midwife. She subsequently migrated to the USA, first working in New York City, then Miami, Florida, as a Critical Care Nurse. She was an excellent, caring and compassionate nurse, who extended her Christian values and love to everyone she met.
While Gloria never had children of her own, she was “Auntie Gloria” to many children and young adults. Her passion to teach them God’s words and inspire them to be the best version of themselves, was palpable, and positively impacted many lives.
She was a lover of sports, mainly, swimming and tennis. If you called her during the Wimbledon games, she would not be listening to much of what you had to say but instead, updating you on who was winning. She was always one of the best dressed ladies for church and other occasion, very proper, and sophisticated. She enjoyed cooking. Family and friends looked forward to eating especially, her delicious oxtail dinners. Gloria was always thinking about how to help those around her and that was carried through even with her end-of-life planning.
If life as we know it is indeed a journey, then Gloria has certainly fulfilled her task in this phase. She faithfully loved and served the Lord. We thank God for having exposed her to us and may he grant her a restful place in heaven.
